About LoanMath

Why LoanMath exists: free loan and amortization calculators that run in your browser.

Built around one idea: loan math should be free, private and instant

LoanMath is a free set of calculators for the loans most people actually carry — auto loans, student loans, personal loans and mortgage math. Every tool here answers one practical question: what will this loan really cost, month by month and in total.

Each calculator runs entirely in your browser. The numbers you type never leave your device; there is no account, no upload and no tracking. The math is the standard amortizing loan formula used by lenders everywhere (PMT, amortization schedules, remaining-balance and effective-APR methods) — published financial mathematics that do not change, so the tools stay correct without ongoing maintenance.

LoanMath was built because most loan calculators are buried in ad-heavy finance portals or require an account. A monthly payment is a two-second calculation; it should not take a registration form. The site aims to stay fast, private and honest about the difference between a math estimate and a lender quote.

The calculators are deliberately simple: three to five inputs, one clear answer, and the formula behind it stated on every page. Where a result depends on an approximation — for example the 0.5%-of-loan PMI estimate, or the weighted-average rate in the consolidation tool — the page says so in plain language, because an estimate labelled as an estimate is more useful than one presented as certainty.

Content is written and reviewed by the LoanMath editorial team, which comes from a personal-finance and consumer-lending background. The site may show non-intrusive advertising once traffic justifies it; advertising is always clearly separated from the tools and never affects the calculations.
